Securing their own research funding can be an important step in the career of junior researchers. It allows Early Career Researchers to develop their independent research programs and to lead their own projects. Hence, it is often the very first step towards an independent academic career.
During this event we will present funding opportunities for early career researchers in the Natural and Life Sciences (incl. Mathematics and Computer Science) and introduce the support services of JMU’s Research Advancement Centre (RAC).
The focus of this seminar will lie on the funding programs of the German Research Foundation (DFG, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) as well as JMU’s intramural funding programs.
Where can I get funding? How is it possible to fund my own position? Is it possible to further qualify for a scientific career as part of a third-party funded project? Which expenses are typically covered through third-party funding? What are important aspects to consider during the application process? According to which criteria is the assessment made? These and many more questions will be addressed during the seminar.
This seminar is aimed at postdocs, junior group leaders and junior professors as well as at graduate students in the final phase of their dissertation, and will be held in English.
